JHU Surplus Property Program

Supply Chain Shared Services administers a Surplus Property Program whereby University departments may list equipment or furniture no longer needed for resale. Items can only be offered internally to University departments.

To list items in the Surplus Property Program, please complete a "Notice of Availability of Surplus Equipment" memorandum and provide the following information:

  • Name and telephone number of contact person
  • Name and description of item(s) - include make, model and JHU Property ID number if possible
  • Approximate age of item(s) - provide date of purchase if known
  • Condition of item(s)
  • Location of the item(s)
  • Asking price

Items deemed appropriate for resale within the University will be added to the Surplus Property Program master list maintained by Supply Chain Shared Services. Departments with a need for specific equipment or furniture may inquire about the availability of needed items.

Due to lack of storage space, all surplus equipment and furniture must remain in the originating department until sold or disposed.

All inquiries regarding the Surplus Property Program should be addressed to Ms. Paulette Spann, Supply Chain Shared Services, Eastern B001. Ms. Spann may be reached at 443-997-5662.

Maryland State Surplus Property Program

The University is also authorized to purchase items from the Maryland State Surplus Property Program. Identification Cards are needed to buy surplus items from the State surplus warehouse. All purchases must be made in person, by the person whose name is on the Identification Card.

For further information regarding the Maryland State Surplus Property Program, or to obtain an Identification Card, please contact, Ms. Judy Zimmer, Associate Director, Supply Chain Shared Services, Eastern B001. Ms. Zimmer may be reached at 443-997-5663.
